Precision Fuel & Hydration are the Official Nutrition Partner of Maverick Race, and they’ll be providing personalised advice and products to help you perform at your best.
Use their free Fuel & Hydration Planner to get a nutrition plan for your Maverick Race. The plan is packed full of advice about how much you should be aiming to eat and drink to fuel your race, as well as how to make the most of our on-course Outposts.
What’s on course?
At a basic level, carbohydrates, sodium and fluid are the three acute costs of taking part in an endurance event So, your Maverick Race nutrition strategy should aim to replace a decent proportion of each of these.
To help you hit your carbohydrate numbers, you’ll find PF 30 Gels and PF 30 Chews at the on-course Outposts at Maverick events. Each delivers 30 grams of carb per serving and come in a mild, neutral flavour, whilst the chews also come in a mint & lemon flavour to help add some variety to your plan.
And when it comes to sodium and fluid, you’ll find PH 1000 electrolytes at the Outposts. PH 1000 delivers 1,000mg of sodium per litre of fluid and is a strong electrolyte drink designed to help you stay hydrated when you’re sweating. Remember to bring your own soft flask, bottle or cup to refill at the Outposts.
The on-course Outposts are designed to contribute towards your overall energy and hydration needs, but, to perform at your best, you should carry your own race nutrition, especially if you’re racing one of our longer routes. Check out the fuel & hydration range.
Need help with your strategy?
Once you’ve used the free Fuel & Hydration Planner to work out how much carbohydrate, sodium and fluid you need to perform at your best, you can then dial your strategy in during training.
Everyone loses a different amount of sodium in their sweat and this is largely genetically determined, so there’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to hydration. To understand how much sodium you lose in your sweat and how much you should be aiming to consume, you can get a Sweat Test at one of PF&H’s Sweat Test Centres. Book a Sweat Test.
